According to Apple's documentation, published on 14 September 2026, Search in Show helps listeners find an episode within a podcast's catalogue.

Long-running shows can have hundreds of episodes, and finding one interview by scrolling is slow. Apple says a feature called Search in Show is meant to fix that. It is described on Apple's page on new Apple Podcasts features in iOS 27, tvOS 27 and macOS 27, dated 14 September 2026.

What Apple says it does

According to that page, there is "a new search bar at the top of a podcast's show page, in the See All Episodes view". Apple says you can search for "a guest name, episode title, keyword, or something mentioned in the transcript".

How to use it, as documented

Based on Apple's description, the steps are:

  1. Open the show's page in Apple Podcasts.
  2. Go to the See All Episodes view.
  3. Use the search bar at the top to type a guest's name, an episode title, a keyword or a phrase from the episode.

Apple's page does not describe how results are ordered, what happens when nothing matches, or how fully a given show's episodes and transcripts are covered.

Where Apple says it works

Apple's page says: "This feature is available everywhere Apple Podcasts is available, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, and the web." The same page groups Search in Show with the iOS 27 software updates, but it does not give a minimum software version for each device.

The page also ends with a caveat: "All features may not be available in all countries and regions." Apple's separate availability table lists Apple Podcasts, and marks transcripts as available, in countries including Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana and Egypt. That table does not list Search in Show by name, and it shows English as the app language in those countries.

Why it matters for listeners

For listeners following African shows with large back catalogues, a search inside one show could make it quicker to find a named guest or a topic. If the search bar does not appear, Apple's page gives no troubleshooting advice; its only stated limits are the software-update context and the country caveat.
