Radio Ink reports that Audacy is winding down Creator Lab operations effective 1 November 2026. Creators with active Marketplace campaigns must complete deliverables by the deadline. The company will honour payment terms for finished campaigns.

According to Radio Ink, Audacy announced on 28 August that it is shutting down Creator Lab, described as "a very small part of our overall podcasting business." The platform provided free hosting and connection to brand sponsorship opportunities for independent podcasters.

Creators with active Marketplace campaigns linking them to sponsor deals have until 1 November to complete and submit all deliverables. Those without active campaigns need not take action. Audacy said it will "honor existing payment terms for earnings from completed campaigns," ensuring creators receive compensation for finished work.

Creator Lab traces its lineage to Podcorn, which Audacy acquired in 2020. The platform added YouTube distribution features in March 2026, enabling hosts to publish video while monetising audio through Audacy's ad network. That expansion proved short-lived. The closure continues Audacy's pattern of consolidation following its 2022 bankruptcy restructuring, which already saw the company shed Pineapple Street Studios and third-party shows with lower engagement metrics.

For African creators reliant on free or low-cost distribution platforms, the closure removes one option among a narrowing field. Audacy indicated it is "exploring new ways to support independent creators," but offered no timeline or concrete commitments. The shutdown reflects a wider industry pattern: as podcast platforms mature and venture capital dries up, independent creator tools become collateral damage in the race to profitability.
